Simpson Reef

Simpson Reef is a surf spot on the southern Oregon coast, in the Northwest USA. It’s more of a rugged, exposed coastal break than a classic beginner beach break, and conditions can be powerful and inconsistent.

• Rocks and uneven bottom mean extra caution is needed
• The area is often known for its scenic, wild coastline and marine life rather than being a crowded surf destination

Conditions

• Works best with solid Pacific swell
• Can be affected by wind and tidal conditions
• Not usually considered a super consistent everyday wave, but it can light up when the ocean is active

Surfing note

Because of the rocky environment and powerful surf, Simpson Reef is generally better suited to surfers with some experience and strong ocean awareness.
