Hookipa (Maui, Hawaii, USA) is one of the most famous surf spots in the world, located on Maui’s north shore near Paia. It’s a high-energy reef break known for powerful waves, strong currents, and beautiful tropical scenery.

What it’s like

Surfing character

Skill level

This is generally considered an advanced to expert-only break. The reef is shallow, the takeoff can be steep, and wipeouts can be serious. Beginners should not surf here.
