Double point

Double Point is a scenic surf break in Marin County, California, just north of San Francisco, along the rugged Pacific coastline. It’s a fairly exposed, natural point-style break with a remote feel compared to many Bay Area spots.

Surf character

• Wave type: Mostly a point/reef-style setup with long, peeling rides when conditions line up.
• Best swell: Typically works best on northwest swells, with enough size to wrap in.
• Wind: Often prefers light offshore or calm winds; strong west winds can hurt it.
• Tide: Can be tide sensitive, with certain sections working better on mid to lower tides depending on the sand/reef setup.

Conditions and crowd

• Power: Can be powerful and fast, especially when bigger swell fills in.
• Crowds: Usually less crowded than many Santa Cruz or SF breaks, but that can vary with accessibility and conditions.
• Skill level: Best suited for intermediate to advanced surfers, especially when the surf is solid or the lineup is moving quickly.

• Scenery: Dramatic cliffs, rugged headlands, and open ocean views make it one of the more beautiful North Coast surf zones.
• Exposure: Being on the open coast, it can get cold, windy, and rough, with strong currents and a serious ocean feel.
