Point Loma (Ralph's)

Point Loma (Ralph’s) is a surf spot in San Diego County, California, on the Point Loma peninsula near the mouth of San Diego Bay. It’s a fairly localized, variable reef/point-style break that tends to work best when Southern California gets a decent swell and favorable wind conditions.

What it’s like

• Wave type: Mostly a reef break with some point-like characteristics depending on sand and swell direction.
• Best swell: Usually prefers west to southwest swell.
• Wind: Best with light offshore or clean morning conditions; onshore winds can make it messy quickly.
• Skill level: Typically intermediate to advanced, because the wave can be fast, sectiony, and can have reef hazards.
