Jici Beach (吉吉海灘) on Taiwan’s east coast is a lesser-known surf spot near Hualien County, offering a scenic, laid-back alternative to the more crowded breaks in the area.

What the waves are like

The beach can be affected by typhoons and seasonal northeast monsoon swells, which can make it much bigger and rougher.
As with many Taiwan surf spots, reef, rips, and changing sandbars can affect safety and wave shape.
It’s worth checking local surf reports or asking nearby surfers for current conditions before paddling out.
