Brantevik

Brantevik is a small coastal village in Skåne, southern Sweden, on the Österlen coast. As a surf spot, it’s best thought of as a wind and swell-dependent beach/shoreline break rather than a heavy, powerful wave destination.

What it’s like

• Exposure: It faces the Baltic Sea, so wave quality is usually modest compared with Atlantic surf destinations.
• Best conditions: Typically works best during strong autumn and winter storms, when low-pressure systems push enough swell into the coast.
• Wave type: Usually small to medium, short-period wind swell; can be choppy if the wind is on it.
• Bottom: The area is generally sandy/shallow in many sections, so breaks can shift with sand movement.
• Wind: Offshore or light cross-offshore winds are key for cleaner waves. Onshore winds can make it messy quickly.

• Beginner to intermediate surfers when swell is small and organized
• Kitesurfers and windsurfers often get more consistent action than surfers because the region is wind-rich
• Foilers / SUP surfers on the better days

• Wetsuit use is essential for much of the year; the Baltic can be cold, especially outside summer.
