Playa del Bol is a small urban beach in Calpe (Calp), Alicante, on Spain’s Mediterranean coast, right below the dramatic Peñón de Ifach. It’s not one of the famous high-performance surf spots in Spain, but it can still produce small, rideable waves when Mediterranean swell lines up.

What it’s like

Beach type: Sandy urban beach with some rocky areas nearby
Wave quality: Usually small to moderate, often soft and short-period
Best for: Beginners, longboarders, bodyboarders, and casual wave riders
Crowds: Can be busy in summer due to the town location
Wind/swell: Works best with clean offshore or light winds and a decent NE/E Mediterranean swell

Surf conditions

The Mediterranean doesn’t get consistent Atlantic-style surf, so Playa del Bol is very seasonal and conditions-dependent. When a good swell arrives, the beach break can offer: - Gentle peeling waves - Short sections suitable for learning - Some punchier peaks during stronger storm events
