Les Rotes (Dénia, Alicante) – Mediterranean surf spot overview

Les Rotes is the rocky southern coastline of Dénia on Spain’s Costa Blanca, facing the Mediterranean Sea. It’s not a classic high-performance surf destination like Atlantic Spain, but it can work during the right swell windows.

Spot character

Type: Mostly reef/rocky coastline with some small pockets and irregular takeoff zones.
Wave quality: Usually short-period, wind-affected Mediterranean surf. When it’s on, waves tend to be smaller and less powerful than Atlantic spots.
Consistency: Low to moderate. Best during stronger east / southeast storm swells and favorable winds.
Best conditions: Clean offshore or light winds, with a solid swell running from the E / SE.
Crowd level: Typically light compared with mainland Atlantic surf spots.

What to expect

More of a fun, opportunistic surf spot than a dependable break.
