Millars Point

Millers Point, in the South East of Port Elizabeth (now Gqeberha), is a well-known surf area on the Eastern Cape coastline. It’s part of the broader Cape Recife/Millers Point marine reserve area, with exposed Atlantic-swell energy and a rugged, scenic shoreline.

Surf character

• Wave type: Mainly a reef and point-style break, with nearby ledges and reef setups depending on swell and tide.
• Wave quality: Can produce clean, powerful waves when conditions line up, especially with a solid south/southwest swell.
• Best conditions: Typically likes offshore wind and a decent swell direction from the south or southwest. Tides can make a big difference because of the reef.
• Skill level: Best suited to intermediate to advanced surfers, as the waves can be punchy, fast, and affected by shallow reef.
