Dukhan Beach is one of Qatar’s better-known surfable spots, located on the west coast near the Dukhan industrial area. It’s a remote, open-water beach with a long stretch of sand and exposure to Gulf swells, which can make it a fun place to surf when conditions line up.

• Wave quality: Typically small to moderate, but can produce rideable waves on the right swell.
• Best conditions: When a ground swell or strong wind swell hits from the right direction, with manageable offshore or light cross-shore winds.

• Crowds: Usually less crowded than surf spots closer to Doha, thanks to its remote location.

What to expect

• Consistency: Not highly consistent, so it’s more of a “check the forecast” spot than a guaranteed surf day.
• Bottom: Sandy bottom, which is generally beginner-friendly.
• Water: Warm Gulf water for much of the year, so a wetsuit is usually unnecessary.
• Wind: Wind can be a major factor in Qatar, often affecting wave shape more than swell size.
