Indicators

Indicators is a well-known surf break on Puerto Rico’s northwest coast, near the Aguadilla/Isabela area. It’s a powerful, reefy wave that gets attention for its fast, hollow sections and very consistent winter swell.

What it’s like

• Wave type: reef break
• Best direction: works best with north and northwest swells
• Wind: usually best with light offshore winds, often from the south/southeast
• Character: strong, quick, and often barreling
• Difficulty: generally advanced to expert

Conditions

Indicators tends to shine when Puerto Rico’s winter swell season is firing. On the right day, it can produce long, clean walls and heavy tubes, but it can also get very shallow and unforgiving. It’s not usually a beginner spot.

• Strong currents on bigger days
• Crowds when conditions are good
• Heavy wipeouts

Vibe

This is a spot for surfers who are comfortable with steep takeoffs and fast reef waves. When it’s small, it may be more manageable, but when it’s big and hollow, it’s a serious wave.
