What makes it special

• An underwater submarine canyon sits just offshore, acting like a wave amplifier.
• This creates some of the biggest rideable waves on Earth, especially at Praia do Norte (North Beach), which is the famous big-wave zone associated with Nazaré.
• On smaller days, the main beach can still offer surf, but the spot is generally better known for extreme big-wave conditions than for consistent everyday surfing.
