Consolaçao

Consolação is a well-known surf spot on the central Peniche coast in Portugal, just south of Peniche town and close to the better-known beaches around the peninsula. It’s an exposed Atlantic beach break with a reputation for powerful, consistent waves, especially when the swell is solid.

Conditions

Consolação can work across a range of tide conditions, but it’s generally best to check it carefully because the sandbanks and peaks can change. When the swell is strong, the waves can become heavy and hollow, which makes it better suited to intermediate to advanced surfers.

Character

This spot has a more raw, Atlantic feel than some of the more sheltered surf areas nearby. It’s less about easy, mellow waves and more about strong, punchy surf with plenty of energy. On smaller days it may be fun and manageable, but when it’s pumping, it can get serious quickly.
