Paço D´arcos

Paço d’Arcos is a surf spot on the Lisbon coast in the Central Lisboa area, west of the city center. It’s a relatively accessible break near the town of Paço de Arcos, with a mix of urban convenience and Atlantic exposure.

Spot description

• Type: Predominantly a reef/point-style wave, depending on swell direction and sand/reed conditions
• Best swell: Works best with west to northwest swell
• Wind: Most favorable with east to northeast offshore winds
• Tide: Usually better at mid to low tide, but conditions can vary a lot
• Wave quality: Can offer clean, hollow, and fun waves when the sand/reef setup aligns, though it’s not as consistent or famous as nearby breaks like Carcavelos

What to expect

• A manageable, localized wave that can be fun on smaller to medium swells
• Can become crowded when conditions are good because of its proximity to Lisbon
• More suited to intermediate surfers when it’s working well; easier days can be fine for learners, but take care of the seafloor and currents
