Ingrina

Ingrina is a small, scenic surf spot on the Algarve’s southwest coast, near Vila do Bispo and Sagres. It sits in a sheltered bay by Praia da Ingrina, with dramatic cliffs, clear water, and a more laid-back feel than some of the bigger, more exposed Atlantic beaches nearby.

Surf character

• Wave type: Mostly beach break with some localized peaks
• Best for: Beginner to intermediate surfers, depending on swell and conditions
• Wave quality: Can be fun and playful, but usually not the most powerful or consistent wave in the region
• Swell direction: Works best with NW to W swells
• Wind: Typically better with easterly or offshore winds; strong onshore wind can make it messy quickly

Conditions

Ingrina is more of a small-to-medium wave spot. It tends to come alive when the swell is large enough to wrap into the bay, but it’s often smaller and friendlier than the heavier surf breaks around Sagres and the west coast.

• Autumn to spring is generally the most reliable season for swell
• Summer can still be surfable, but waves are often smaller and softer
