Baterías, North Peru is a heavy, powerful left point break known for its long, fast walls and serious barrel sections when conditions line up. It’s one of the more respected waves in northern Peru because it can offer high-quality, hollow surf with a clean direction and plenty of run.

What it’s like

  • Wave type: Left-hand point break
  • Character: Fast, powerful, often hollow
  • Best for: Intermediate to advanced surfers, especially those comfortable in steep takeoffs and strong surf
  • Bottom: Rocky point / reef-style setup
  • Ride length: Can be long when the swell is right

Conditions

Baterías works best with a solid southwest swell and light offshore winds. Like many northern Peru spots, it can be very sensitive to swell angle and size, with the best sessions coming when the wave wraps in cleanly and the wind stays favorable.

Hazards

  • Sharp rocks / reef
  • Strong currents
  • Heavy lip and closeout sections
  • Can be crowded when conditions are good

Nearby context

Northern Peru is famous for consistent surf and warm water compared with southern Peru, and Baterías fits that reputation as a quality, powerful wave with a more serious feel than mellow beachbreaks.
