Pasamayo

Pasamayo, Peru (Central) is a powerful, exposed point/reef-style surf zone on Peru’s central coast, known for its consistent Pacific swell exposure and heavy, fast-breaking waves. It’s best suited to confident to expert surfers because the waves can be strong, hollow, and unforgiving, especially when the swell is up.

What it’s like

• Wave type: Fast, punchy surf with a mix of point-like runs and reef/rocky sections depending on the exact takeoff zone and swell direction.
• Power: Can be very powerful and should be treated with respect.
• Crowds: Usually less crowded than famous Lima-area breaks, but conditions and access can vary.
• Atmosphere: Remote-feeling, rugged coastal setting with dramatic cliffs and a raw Pacific backdrop.

Best conditions

• Swell: Works best with a solid south or southwest swell.
• Wind: Cleanest with light offshore wind, often from the east or southeast.
• Tide: Tide preference can vary by exact peak; many sections perform better on a mid to low tide, but some areas may become too shallow or dangerous when it’s too small or too low.
