Hellesto

Hellestø/Hellestøstranda is a well-known surf beach on Norway’s southwest coast, near Stavanger in Rogaland. It’s one of the most accessible and popular surf spots in the area, with a long sandy beach and plenty of space to spread out.

What it’s like

• Beach break: Waves usually break over sand, which makes it more forgiving than reef spots.
• Best in west/northwest swell: It works best when Atlantic swell lines up with favorable wind.
• Wind-sensitive: Like many Norwegian spots, conditions can change quickly; offshore or light winds are ideal.
• All-level friendly: Often surfed by beginners and intermediates, but bigger swells can create stronger, more challenging waves.
