• Because it’s a beach break, conditions can vary a lot, and on bigger days it may be better suited to more experienced surfers
• Also popular with bodyboarders and local surf schools

• Can be crowded on decent days, especially in summer and weekends
• The atmosphere is generally laid-back and local, with beach pavilions and a relaxed seaside feel

Best time to surf

• Autumn and winter usually bring the most consistent and powerful surf
• Spring and summer can still be fun, but often smaller and less reliable
• Early morning or around favorable wind shifts tends to be best

Hazards / notes

• Cold water much of the year, so a wetsuit is necessary
• Strong currents and shifting sandbanks can make conditions tricky
• As with most North Sea spots, conditions can change quickly
