K12, Morocco (South) is a well-known surf spot in Southern Morocco, along the Atlantic coast near the Tarfaya/Laayoune region. It’s a remote, exposed beach break/point setup that works best on solid groundswells and can deliver long, fast, powerful rides when the sandbanks or reef sections line up.

What it’s like

• Wave type: Mostly a powerful beach break with sections that can form a more organized point-style wall depending on sand and swell direction.
• Best swell: W to NW swells are usually the most reliable.
• Wind: Light offshore or cross-offshore easterly winds are ideal. Strong wind can quickly ruin it because the spot is very exposed.
• Skill level: Generally intermediate to advanced. It can be heavy, hollow, and fast, especially on bigger swells.
• Crowds: Usually much quieter than the famous northern Moroccan spots, but access and remoteness keep it a bit of a mission.

Conditions and character

• Can offer long walls, barrels, and sections for turns when conditions align.
• Because it’s so open to the Atlantic, it can get very powerful and challenging.
• Tides matter a lot; the wave may prefer mid to low tide, depending on the sand configuration.

Practical notes

• Remote location: Plan for fuel, food, water, and vehicle support.
• Road/access: Access can be rough in places, so a 4x4 is useful.
• Hazards: Strong currents, shallow sections, and isolated breaks mean you should surf with caution and ideally with a local guide.
