Spot description

Pascuales is a fast, steep, sand-bottom beach break that delivers powerful barrels when the swell is right. It’s exposed to open-ocean swell, so it can get very big and very serious, especially during south and southwest swell seasons. The wave often breaks close to shore with strong, sometimes violent sections and a lot of force.

Skill level

Pascuales is generally for advanced to expert surfers. It’s not a beginner-friendly wave because of: - heavy surf - strong currents - powerful shorebreak - shallow, shifting sandbars

Vibe and setting

The area is fairly laid-back and remote compared with major surf destinations. It has a rugged, tropical feel, with warm water and a powerful ocean atmosphere. Because the wave is so intense, locals and visiting surfers usually approach it with a lot of respect.
