Troncones point

Troncones Point, Guerrero, Mexico is a classic right-hand point break on the Pacific coast, near the laid-back surf village of Troncones, just north of Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo.

What it’s like

• Wave type: Mostly a long, peeling right point break
• Best for: Intermediate to advanced surfers
• Ride quality: When it’s working, it can deliver long, clean rides with a smooth, mellow takeoff and sections that let you trim, turn, and sometimes connect across a fairly long wall
• Bottom: Generally rocky/reef and point-style setup, so awareness is important, especially at lower tide
