Shipwrecks

Shipwrecks, Baja Sur, Mexico is one of Baja’s most famous and surfed point breaks, sitting just south of Cabo San Lucas on the Pacific side of the peninsula. It’s a long, wedgy right-hand point/reef break known for its consistent shape, especially when a solid south or southwest swell lines up with offshore winds.

• Best swell: Southern Hemisphere swell, especially S/SW
• Wind: Best with northeast/east offshore winds

Why it’s called Shipwrecks

The spot gets its name from the nearby remains of an old shipwreck visible offshore, which adds to its character and helps make it one of the more recognizable breaks in the Cabo area.

• The takeoff zone can be fickle and shallow
• Rocks and reef mean you need to be aware of low tide danger
• Crowds can build quickly when it’s on, since it’s a popular break close to Cabo
