Le Morne

Le Morne, Mauritius is one of the Indian Ocean’s most famous surf spots, set on the southwest tip of the island beneath the dramatic backdrop of Le Morne Brabant mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

What it’s like

• World-class reef break with long, powerful waves.
• Best known for its left-hand point/reef wave, especially the famous section called “One Eye.”
• When it’s working, it delivers fast, hollow, barreling waves over shallow reef.

Best conditions

• Works best with southerly to southwesterly swells and offshore easterly trade winds.
• Most consistent during the Mauritian winter (May to September).
• Can handle strong surf, so it’s generally suited to experienced surfers.
