Imgieba

Imgieba is a small surf break on Malta’s exposed coastline, known more for its wind and swell exposure than for consistent, powerful waves. Like many Maltese spots, it works best when a good winter swell rolls in from the Mediterranean, usually paired with favorable offshore winds. Because Malta sits in a relatively sheltered sea, surf conditions can be inconsistent, so Imgieba is more of a local-gems / check-the-forecast kind of spot than a reliable everyday surf destination.

• Consistency: Low to moderate
• Best season: Autumn and winter, when storms generate more swell
• Skill level: Best for beginners to intermediate surfers when conditions are small; can get trickier in bigger surf

Imgieba tends to appeal to surfers who don’t mind hunting for the right window. The surrounding coastline can be scenic and rugged, but the spot’s quality depends heavily on direction, period, and local wind. When it lines up, it can offer fun, clean rides; when it doesn’t, it may be mostly flat or choppy.
