Ambila Lamentsa

Ambila-Lemaitsa (often spelled Ambila or Ambila Lementsa) is a surf spot on Madagascar’s east coast, known for its remote, tropical setting and long, often powerful waves breaking along an exposed stretch of shoreline.

• Wave type: Mostly beachbreak, with shifting sandbars
• Best for: Intermediate to advanced surfers, especially when conditions get solid
• Wave quality: Can be very fun and punchy when the sand lines up, but it’s less consistent than well-known reef breaks
• Swells: Picks up southeast and east swell, especially during the southern hemisphere winter
• Wind: Offshore conditions are usually better with lighter west or southwest winds

What to expect

Ambila-Lemaitsa is not a heavily developed surf destination, so the experience is often more about exploration and raw tropical coastline than polished surf infrastructure. Waves can be spread over a long stretch of beach, and sandbars may change after storms or seasonal shifts.
