Porto Ferro is a scenic surf spot on the northwest coast of Sardinia, Italy — not Sicily. It’s known for its long sandy beach, natural surroundings, and exposure to the Mistral winds that can create excellent waves.

What to expect

Porto Ferro can offer fun, punchy beachbreak waves with some size when the Mistral is active. The beach faces west/northwest, so it picks up a lot of Atlantic-generated swell that reaches Sardinia. Conditions can change quickly depending on wind and sandbanks, and it’s usually best when the wind is clean and the swell is moderate to solid.

Setting

The spot sits in a wild, protected-feeling area with cliffs, dunes, and a big open bay. The scenery is one of its biggest draws, and the atmosphere is relaxed and natural.
