Cala Cipolla is a small, scenic cove on the southwest coast of Sardinia, Italy. It’s not in Sicily — it’s in southern Sardinia, near Chia in the municipality of Domus de Maria.

Surf spot description

Type of spot: Beachbreak with occasional small reef/rock influence depending on sand movement
Wave quality: Can be fun and clean, especially when a proper Mediterranean swell lines up with the right wind
Best conditions:
South to southwest swell
Light offshore winds from the north/northeast
Wave size: Usually small to moderate, but it can produce better surf during strong winter swells

Spot character

Cala Cipolla is known more for its beautiful setting than for heavy waves. The cove has: - clear turquoise water - a sandy bottom in many areas - surrounding rocky headlands - a very exposed, open-ocean feel for a Mediterranean beach
