Barley Cove is a beautiful beach break on Ireland’s southwest coast, near Mizen Head in County Cork. It’s one of the better-known surf spots in the region thanks to its long sandy beach, scenic setting, and ability to pick up swell from the Atlantic.

Conditions

Barley Cove works best when there’s enough Atlantic swell to push into the bay, but it can get blown out fairly quickly in strong onshore wind, which is common on Ireland’s southwest coast. Because it’s a sand-bottom beach break, the peaks can shift with tides and storms.
