Roti Island – Nembrala – T Land, Indonesia (Savu Sea)
T-Land is one of the best-known surf breaks on Roti Island, sitting just off Nembrala on the island’s southwest coast, exposed to the open swell of the Savu Sea. It’s a long, powerful reef pass that breaks over a coral platform and is famous for producing long, clean left-hand walls with excellent shape when the swell lines up.
Wave type
- Reef break
- Mostly left-hand point-style wave
- Fast, long, and hollow in sections
- Can offer long rides with multiple maneuvers on the same wave
Best conditions
- Works best with south to southwest swells
- Ideal with offshore easterly winds
- More consistent during the dry season when swell and wind conditions are cleaner
- Best on mid to larger swells; too small and it can lack power, too big and it can become heavy and challenging
Skill level
- Intermediate to advanced
- Can be suitable for confident intermediates on smaller, cleaner days
- At larger sizes it becomes a serious, committed reef wave
Hazards
- Sharp shallow reef
- Strong currents and channel flow
- Heavy, powerful sections
- Crowd factor can be present during good swell windows
Atmosphere
Nembrala has become a classic surf destination with a relaxed island feel, simple guesthouses, warm water, and easy access to the break. The setting is scenic, with turquoise water, tropical coastline, and a fairly uncrowded feel compared with many more famous Indonesian surf zones.
Summary
T-Land is a quality Indonesian reef wave known for long lefts, tropical water, and reliable swell exposure. When the swell is right, it can deliver world-class surf in a beautiful, laid-back setting.
