Rafina is a coastal port town on the eastern side of mainland Greece, just northeast of Athens. It’s best thought of as an exposed Aegean shoreline rather than a classic, reliable “surf destination” like those in stronger swell regions. Conditions can be highly wind- and swell-dependent.

A few important notes: - Location: Rafina is in Attica, not the Peloponnese. The Peloponnese is farther southwest on mainland Greece. - Wave quality: Surf tends to be inconsistent. When the Aegean gets the right wind/swell combination, you can find rideable waves, but it’s usually more of a fun beachbreak than a world-class point or reef. - Best conditions: Typically works best with NE to E swell and offshore or light wind depending on the exact beach orientation. - Wave type: Mostly short-period wind swell, with quick, steep peaks when conditions line up. - Crowds: Usually not heavily surfed compared with bigger European surf hubs, but local wind and kite activity can be common. - Hazards: Can be affected by strong winds, currents, rocky sections, and port-related boat traffic near the harbor area.
