La Courance

La Courance is a surf spot on the Vendée coast in western France, along the Atlantic shoreline near Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez / Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie. It’s a beach break exposed to Atlantic swell, so it can offer clean, punchy waves when conditions line up.

What it’s like

• Best with: Atlantic W to NW swell and a suitable wind direction, usually offshore easterly winds
• Bottom: Sand, so the peak can shift with tides and sandbars
