Les Estagnots

Les Estagnots is a well-known beach break in Seignosse, Landes, southwest France, on the Atlantic coast. It’s one of the classic Landes surf spots, exposed to the full power of the North Atlantic and known for consistent waves, strong beachbreak peaks, and plenty of sandbar movement.

What it’s like

• Wave type: Fast, powerful beach break with shifting peaks
• Best swell: North to west swells
• Best wind: Offshore winds from the east / southeast
• Tides: Can work on a range of tides, but conditions change a lot depending on sandbars and swell size
• Crowd level: Can be very crowded, especially in summer and on good swell days

Surf quality

Les Estagnots can deliver fun, hollow, punchy waves when the sandbars line up. It’s a spot that can be very good for intermediate to advanced surfers, but it can also be challenging because the waves are often strong, close together, and sometimes rippy.

Beach and atmosphere

The spot is set along a long, sandy beach with the classic Landes pine forest and dune landscape behind it. It has a relaxed surf-town feel, with easy access to other nearby breaks in the Seignosse/Hossegor area.
