Le Santocha

Le Santocha is a classic surf spot in Capbreton, Landes, southwest France, just south of Hossegor. It’s one of the better-known beachbreaks on the Landes coast, exposed to Atlantic swells and often delivering powerful, fast waves.

• Wave quality: Can produce hollow, punchy peaks and long walls, especially when sandbanks are well aligned
• Crowd: Popular and often busy, especially when conditions are good
• Ability level: Suits intermediate to advanced surfers, though smaller days can be more forgiving

What to expect

Le Santocha can be fairly consistent thanks to the region’s exposure to Atlantic swell. It often works best when the sandbars are in good shape, creating multiple peaks along the beach. On stronger swells, it can become heavy and powerful, with strong currents and occasionally challenging paddling.
