Mascaret Garonne

Mascaret Garonne (Gironde, France) is not a classic ocean surf break, but a famous tidal bore on the Garonne River—an upriver wave created when the incoming Atlantic tide pushes far inland. It’s one of the most iconic “surfs” in southwestern France.

What it’s like

• More of a river-wave / bore surfing experience than a beach break
