La Lagune

La Lagune is a beachbreak surf spot on the Atlantic coast of Gironde, France, just south of the Bordeaux area and near the wider Lacanau / Médoc coastline. It’s part of the long, sandy Aquitaine beach strip exposed directly to Atlantic swell, so it can produce powerful, shifting waves.

Conditions and features

Because it’s a sandbank-driven spot, conditions change frequently with storms, tides, and seasonal sand movement. That means the peak can shift, barrels can appear after good swell cycles, and it can range from fun waist-high waves to heavy overhead surf.

Crowd and atmosphere

La Lagune can be less urban and a bit more open than some of the busier nearby beach breaks, but when conditions are good, expect local surfers and visitors to spread out along the bank line. The setting is natural and dune-backed, with the classic wild Atlantic feel.
