La Jenny

La Jenny is a beachbreak surf spot on the Atlantic coast of Gironde, France, north of Bordeaux, in the Lacanau / Le Porge area. It sits along the long sandy shoreline of the Côte d’Argent, exposed directly to the Atlantic, so it picks up a lot of swell and can work across a wide range of conditions.

• Works best with westerly to northwesterly Atlantic swells
• Wind is usually best with light offshore or side-offshore easterly winds
• Because it’s an open beach, it can be wind-affected quickly
• Tides matter: like many Gironde beachbreaks, mid tide to moving tide often provides the best shape, though this depends on the sandbanks

Hazards and notes

• Strong currents and rips can be present, especially on bigger surf
• The seabed is sand, so it’s safer than reef spots, but the ocean can still be powerful
• Banks can change after storms, so the spot can be very different from week to week

Atmosphere

La Jenny is part of a relaxed, natural stretch of coastline backed by dunes and pine forest. It’s generally less urban than some nearby spots and has a more laid-back beach vibe, with good access from the surrounding coastal holiday areas.
