Grande Côte is a popular beachbreak on France’s Atlantic coast, just north of Royan in Saint-Palais-sur-Mer. It’s a scenic stretch of sand backed by dunes and coastal forest, exposed to the open Atlantic, so it can pick up plenty of swell and offer fun, punchy waves when conditions line up.

What it’s like
