Sein Island is a small, exposed island off the western tip of Brittany, sitting in the Iroise Sea at the edge of the Atlantic. It’s a wild, remote surf area rather than a classic easy-access beach break. The setting is dramatic: low granite coastline, strong ocean exposure, and constant Atlantic energy.

Wave type

• Mostly reef and rock-bottom breaks
• Can produce powerful lefts and rights depending on swell direction and sand/reef setup
• Best on a solid Atlantic swell
• Breaks are often fast, hollow, and powerful when conditions line up

Conditions

• Needs careful tide and swell assessment
• Works best with a clean offshore wind and a well-angled W/NW swell
• Can get very strong currents and heavy water movement
• Exposure means it’s often bigger and more powerful than nearby sheltered spots
