Pors Poulhan

Pors Poulhan is a small harbor and surf spot on the southern coast of Brittany, near the border of the Pays Bigouden and the Bay of Audierne area in Finistère, France. It’s a scenic, exposed Atlantic location with a rugged Breton feel: granite coastline, fishing-harbor views, and powerful ocean swell.

Surf characteristics

• Wave type: Mostly a beachbreak / harbor-adjacent open-coast setup, with shifting sandbanks depending on storms and tides.
• Best swell: Works best with W to NW Atlantic swell.
• Wind: Prefers easterly/offshore winds; westerly winds can make it messy quickly.
• Tide: Tide can matter a lot here—conditions often change dramatically between low and high tide.
• Power: Can be punchy and hollow when the sandbars line up, but it’s generally more of a seasonal, fickle quality spot than a guaranteed everyday break.

Conditions and crowd

• Skill level: Better suited to intermediate to advanced surfers, especially when the swell is solid and the currents are strong.
• Crowd: Usually not as crowded as more famous Brittany breaks, but it can attract local surfers when conditions are good.
