Pointe de Dinan

Pointe de Dinan, Brittany North, France is a dramatic coastal surf location on the Crozon Peninsula, known more for its rugged beauty and exposed Atlantic energy than for being a mellow beginner wave.

Surf character

• Exposure: Very open to Atlantic swell, so it can pick up a lot of energy.
• Wave type: Typically a rocky-point / reef-break style setup with powerful, punchy waves when conditions align.
• Consistency: Works best with solid groundswell and the right tide; can be inconsistent but rewarding.
• Power: Can get fast, hollow, and heavy, especially on larger swells.

Conditions

• Best swell: West to northwest swell is usually the key direction.
• Wind: Cleanest with offshore or light easterly winds; strong onshore winds can make it messy quickly.
• Tide: Tidal influence is important, and the spot may be better at certain tide stages depending on swell size.

Surf level
