Le Veryac'h

Le Veryac’h is a scenic, exposed beach break on the Crozon Peninsula in Brittany, northwestern France, tucked near the Pointe de Dinan/Cap de la Chèvre area. It’s known for its beautiful setting, Atlantic swells, and a fairly raw, open-ocean feel.

What it’s like

• Wave type: Mostly a beach break with shifting sandbars.
• Swells: Picks up west to northwest Atlantic swells well.
• Wind: Best in offshore easterly or northeast winds; strong onshore winds can make it messy quickly.
• Power: Can be quite powerful when the swell gets up, especially in winter.

Best conditions

• Mid to high tide is often friendlier, though it depends on sand and swell direction.
• Works best on medium to larger swell days.
• Cleaner surf usually comes with a solid groundswell and light/offshore wind.

Skill level

• Intermediate to advanced when it’s bigger, due to the strength of the waves and Atlantic currents.
• Can be more manageable on smaller days, but the beach break can still be punchy.

Hazards

• Strong currents and rips
• Cold water much of the year
• Powerful shorebreak on bigger swells
• Sandbars can shift, changing the takeoff zones frequently

Atmosphere

• Less crowded than some better-known French surf towns, with a more rugged, remote Brittany feel.
• Dramatic coastal scenery and a very “wild Atlantic” vibe.

Practical notes

• Wetsuit: Expect to need a thick wetsuit outside peak summer, often 4/3 mm or 5/4 mm depending on season.
• Consistency: Brittany can be very consistent in autumn and winter thanks to North Atlantic swell exposure.
