Sakarun, Croatia is a beautiful, crescent-shaped sandy bay on the northern coast of Dugi Otok in the Adriatic Sea. While it’s better known as a swimming, snorkeling, and wind-based watersports spot than a classic surf destination, it can be interesting for wind sports when conditions line up.

• Water type: Sheltered bay with generally calm, shallow turquoise water
• Best for: Stand-up paddleboarding, bodyboarding, windsurfing, and kitesurfing on windy days
• Wave quality: Usually small or minimal surf; not known for consistent ocean-style waves
• Wind: The area can get strong seasonal winds, especially the bura and maestral, which can create chop and make it suitable for some wind sports

• Beach: Long, soft white-sand beach with shallow entry
• Scenery: Very scenic, with clear water, pine trees, and a relaxed island atmosphere
• Crowds: Can be busy in summer, especially during the day due to boat visitors
• Accessibility: Reachable by road on Dugi Otok or by boat; the island itself is quieter than mainland Croatia

• If you’re looking for real wave surfing, Sakarun is generally not a primary surf break.
