Playa Langosta is a fun, usually mellow beach break just south of Tamarindo in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. It’s known for its long sandy beach, easy access, and a more relaxed vibe than the busier Tamarindo lineup.
What the waves are like
- Type: Beach break, sometimes with shifting sandbars
- Best for: Beginners to intermediate surfers, depending on the swell
- Wave shape: Can offer mellow, peelable waves on smaller days; on bigger swells it can get faster and more powerful
- Consistency: Fairly consistent thanks to the exposed Pacific coast, but quality changes with tides and sand movement

- Tides: Often best at mid to incoming tide, though this can vary
- Swells: Picks up NW to WNW Pacific swells well, especially during the rainy season
