Marbella

Marbella, in Costa Rica’s Guanacaste province, is a laid-back Pacific surf zone known for its powerful beach breaks, scenic coastline, and less-crowded lineup compared with the country’s more famous surf towns.

Surf character

• Wave type: Mainly beach break with shifting sandbars
• Best for: Intermediate to advanced surfers when it’s working well
• Power: Can get strong and heavy, especially on larger southwest swells
• Consistency: Less consistent than top marquee spots, but capable of very good surf when conditions line up

• Swells: Picks up South and Southwest Pacific swells
• Wind: Best with light offshore winds, typically early morning
