Punta 2

Punta 2 is a surf spot in Tarapacá, northern Chile, known for its remote, desert-coast setting and powerful Pacific swell. Like many spots in this part of Chile, it tends to be exposed to southern ocean swell, so it can get solid and hollow when conditions line up.

What it’s like

• Wave type: Typically a reef/point-style break depending on exact sand/rock conditions
• Power: Can be strong and fast
• Best conditions: Usually works best with clean swell, light offshore winds, and medium-to-big surf
• Crowds: Often less crowded than famous Chilean surf zones because of the region’s remoteness

Tarapacá’s coastline is dry, rugged, and dramatic, with long stretches of cliffs, bays, and exposed points. Surfing there can feel very adventure-oriented: long drives, sparse services, and changing ocean conditions.
