El Pollón is a well-known surf spot on Lanzarote, Canary Islands, on the northwest-facing coast near the village of La Santa / Caleta de Caballo area depending on local usage. It’s a classic volcanic reef break with powerful, hollow waves and a very rugged setting.

What it’s like

Wave type: Fast, heavy reef break
Best swell: Works best with NW to W swell
Wind: Usually wants light E/SE offshore winds
Wave quality: Can produce excellent barrels when conditions line up
Difficulty: Advanced to expert only

Conditions / hazards

The reef is shallow and sharp, so wipeouts can be unforgiving.
It can be very powerful and closeout-prone on bigger swells.
