Sandy Spit in the British Virgin Islands is a tiny, postcard-perfect sandbar island rather than a true surf destination. It’s best known for its white sand, clear turquoise water, and classic Caribbean scenery. Because it’s so small and exposed, it can get some small wind-generated waves or chop, but it’s generally not considered a reliable or major surf spot.

If you’re looking for surf around the British Virgin Islands, you’ll usually have better luck at more exposed beaches during the winter swell season, when north Atlantic swells can reach the islands. Sandy Spit is more suited to snorkeling, swimming, beach lounging, and boat visits than surfing.
