New Orleans (Sergipe–Alagoas, Brazil) is a lesser-known Northeast Brazil surf spot associated with a stretch of beachbreaks between the states of Sergipe and Alagoas. It’s not one of the country’s famous marquee names, but it can offer fun, uncrowded waves when conditions line up.

Best for: Intermediate surfers, and advanced surfers looking for a quieter alternative

Conditions

Works best with a solid swell and a clean wind direction
Like many Northeast Brazil beachbreaks, it can be fast and hollow at times
Tides can matter a lot:
Mid to rising tide often improves shape
Too low can make it shallow and sectiony
Sandbanks shift, so the quality of the wave can change over time

Atmosphere

The area around the Sergipe–Alagoas coast tends to feel more relaxed and local than major surf destinations

In Northeast Brazil, surf is often better during the austral winter and spring swell periods:
roughly April to September
Tropical weather means the water stays warm year-round, so a rashguard or spring suit is often enough
