Castelhanos

Castelhanos is a scenic, more remote surf spot on the North Coast of São Paulo, on Ilhabela island. It’s known as much for its natural beauty as for its waves: a long bay backed by Atlantic rainforest, with a very laid-back, adventurous feel.

• Type: Open bay beach break
• Wave quality: Can be fun and consistent when the swell lines up, but it’s more dependent on conditions than a highly groomed point or reef break
• Best on: Medium swells with favorable sandbanks and light-to-moderate winds
